CONSULTATION ON SCHOOL ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS 2025/2026
All school admission authorities, including Westcountry Schools Trust, are required to consult on their admission arrangements in accordance with provisions within the School Admissions Code where there is a change to the arrangements or at least once every seven years if there are no changes. It is important to ensure that school admission arrangements meet the needs of all parents and children and consultation is an important part of the process in formulating and setting school admission arrangements.
Further information and details of any proposed changes are available on the Plymouth City Council website at www.plymouth.gov.uk/admissionconsultation from Monday 4 December 2023. As part of the consultation process Plymouth City Council we would like to canvass the views of as many groups of people as possible.
The closing date for the consultation is Sunday 14 January 2024 and any comments should be submitted online using the online form available at www.plymouth.gov.uk/admissionconsultation.

The admission arrangements detailed on this webpage apply to Oreston Community Academy. Westcountry Schools Trust (WeST) is the admission authority. It is responsible for the admissions policies and decisions on applications for admission to our Nursery and the main Academy.
Our admission arrangements comply with the School Admissions Code and School Admissions Appeals Code. We co-operate with the arrangements of Plymouth City Council which are available at www.plymouth.gov.uk/schooladmissions.
There is space for 40 children in each Nursery session and there are 60 places available in Foundation at Oreston. For the main school, children are offered places to start in Foundation at the beginning of the September term after their fourth birthday. Children who are admitted to a vacancy at any time after this point are called 'In-Year' Admissions.
You can find our admissions policies below - we review the school policy annually and may make changes if we feel this would be in the best interests of the Academy and our community.
